Like every boy coaxing a moustache to grow knows, the more you shave the more your hair grows. Salma Hayek recently admitted that the moustache she grew for her role as Frida Kahlo in 2002 keeps growing back.
Rather than wear a fake moustache, Salma shaved her upper lip regularly to encourage the growth. It worked.
“Now I’m all messed up, because in real life, I have a moustache if I don’t wax. When I get older, I’m probably going to look like Pancho Villa,” said Hayek.
We’re reminded of the Italian phrase: Donna Bafuta, sempre piacutta, meaning basically, that a beautiful woman isn’t less so just because she grows a mo.

Alfie, a 10-year-old Shire-cross, is said to flee if he thinks he is in danger of getting even a trim.
The horse also refuses to let staff at the stables in Bitton, Gloucestershire, into his stall there for fear that they will remove his whiskers.
The moustache may look somewhat incongruous given its fair colour compared to his black and white colouring and well-meaning staff thought he would rather be without it.
However Alfie clearly enjoys the look and groom Justine Greenslade said all efforts to clip it had been in vain.
“He’s obviously rather proud of his facial hair,” she said.
“He runs a mile if he thinks we’re going to trim it.”
Moustaches are relatively rare on horses although they are noted among Friesians, which are said to be able to grow ones to rival surrealist painter Salvador Dali’s.
Earlier this month, photographer Wolkenstein unveiled a series of pictures of horses with different hairstyles by a professional hairdresser. Each equine styling session took about four hours and extensions were used to give a “big hair” look.
It is not known whether the photograpther was inspired by Alfie, but he said at the time he was planning another project, this time on facial hair.

MATTHIAS
It started when I had a boy called Jack. I didn’t feel very grown up. My father has a tash, so I decided to grow a more fatherly look. I spent a couple of months with a teenager’s tash and my girlfriend didn’t like it, but now she wouldn’t let me shave it.

When crossing a border in this car it’s best to have a native with you. Enter Andreas Pettersson (far right), who joined us in Berlin for the 1,000km road trip north for Midsummers & Moustaches. The Pettersson farm is famous throughout the Swedish countryside for it’s midsummers 24-hour party on a day that the sun never sets. Well it might have set for an hour, but it never did quite get dark enough to disguise any inappropriate behaviour. But before there was midsummers or moustaches there was a drive and a sailing involving a whole new form of table tennis.
